Pageants....is it Really About "World Peace?"

Hello Beautiful!

Recently I attended (and cheered for) a few friends at the Mrs. AZ America pageant (yes, there are pageants for us married girls....thank Goodness we don't have to wear a bikini though!).  In my world, attending a pageant is a normal occurrence.....but I realized that many women (maybe even YOU)....don't give a damn about pageants.  Or the idea of actually purchasing a ticket to watch a pageant LIVE and in-person might be a bit of a foreign concept.  And I think it's safe to say the general public's perception of pageants isn't all that great.

But I've gotta tell you.....you just might like going to one.  Or  competing in one.  Or even just meeting the women who compete in one.

You see, models don't get paid to think.  (I've heard of friends being criticized when they offered their thoughts on set- with the firm telling them something along the lines of, "you're not paid to 'think'.  You're paid to look good").  But pageant girls ARE EXPECTED to think on their feet, be articulate, balance their families, and be involved in charitable activities WHILE looking good......and most don't get paid a thing.  And who doesn't want to meet fellow like-minded, philanthropic, intelligent, family balancing, non-jealous, super nice, mamas as friends?  And since they come from a wide area, you meet cool women you would never have encountered otherwise.  (*Just like at a job, there may be 1 Bitch in the bunch.....but usually the fabulous ones outweigh the mean girls).

These women are the kind of friends you'll have, and WANT TO HAVE, for a lifetime.  And yes, most pageant girls genuinely strive for "World Peace."  And who doesn't want that?  :)

What are your perceptions of pageants?  Would you ever be willing to step out of your box to do something like compete in a pageant?  (I love them because my husband sure-as-heck won't take me out someplace where an evening gown is required.  "Sorry sweetie, but I really, really HAVE to buy this gorgeous gown and get all dressed up!" - Nee-ner, Nee-ner!)

Leave your thoughts below.  I'd love to hear from you!

Even the gorgeous girls need help sometimes.....

Hi!

My friend Sandra recently asked me if I could teach her how to put on false eyelashes.  Little background here, Sandra is from L.A. (land of beauty) and she is STUNNING!  Honestly, she's one hot tamale with or without makeup.  And the girl knows her stuff when it comes to makeup!

So this request was really surprising.  But then I thought if gorgeous Sandra didn't know what to do with her lashes, maybe there were other moms out there who didn't know either.  Then I thought of most of my mom friends....and let's face it, you and I don't wear false eyelashes every day!  So I came up with the 3 BIGGEST ways you can make an impact on your lashes.

After I posted this video on Facebook, an incredible makeup artist friend commented that I forgot to mention using an eyelash curler.  Truthfully, the eyelash curler is a great tool.....but since that tiny little tool still scares me, I'd rather not teach you how to use one.  The fear would be too evident!  Lol!

But the 3 tips I do share with you really are going to be the 3 biggest impact ways you can get fabulous lashes.  Tell me what you think.  Love, love, LOVE hearing from you!

To luscious lashes.......

Warmly,

Kirin
